BEVERLEY artist Shane Moad hopes to bring a sense of calm to Royal Perth Hospital.

Last week, he handed over one of his paintings to the State Trauma Unit to show his appreciation for the care provided to his son.

Ethan Moad was an inpatient at RPH for almost a month after he was involved in a head-on collision on Brookton Highway in July last year.

“Royal Perth Hospital staff, not only those on the Trauma Unit but across the board, gave Ethan and the family exceptional support and care,” he said.

“The entire family is forever grateful to have doctors and nurses who cared in the way that they did as it was very reassuring for us.”

Mr Moad said he hoped the donated painting, titled Egret, had a soothing effect on patients and families.

“As the Trauma Unit is such a busy environment, we hope the painting has a calming effect on those who view it, and provides relief for families in the same situation as we were almost a year ago,” he said.

"Cervantes Art Festival"

"Shane's work is being more sort after each year. He has clients throughout the world and seems to be gaining a ever increasing interest in his style."

This year the organisers of "Cervantes Art Festival"in Western Australia approached Shane to paint a work to be auctioned at the opening night of the show. Shane was happy to do this, his subject being the pinnacle rock formations that are a feature in the area. The problem was to make sure the composition fitted within the canvas, which was then to be attached to a deck chair as a piece of art, then to auctioned.

It must have worked, as the auction price achieved for Shane's work was the highest that the "Cervantes Art Festival" has ever achieved. Over three times the amount of any other in their history of staging this auction.
